Casas Heddy was founded by Heddy Astrup, born in Oslo in 1904. She dedicated her grown up life to humanitarian work . Her dream was to open a holiday resort adapted for disabled people under the sun in southern Europe. After searching for many years, a plot of land was bought in Lanzarote in 1972. The same plot where Casas Heddy now lies and the resort opened in 1975. Her determination and strong will in collaboration with Oslo Red Cross, made the dream reality and Casas Heddy became a success.
Thanks to her initiative, many thousand Norwegian have enjoyed the kindness and sence of being secure and safe which is the basis of Casas Heddys vision. From 1981, Oslo Red Cross has owned and been running the resort.
